Dendrobium thyrsiflorum B.S.Williams
- Common Name: The Pine Cone-Like Raceme Dendrobium
- Family: Orchidaceae Juss.
- Country of Origin: Assam to China (SE. Yunnan) and Indo-China
- Description: From Thailand and moderate altitudes in the Himalayas, this species grows into large clumps on deciduous trees. The pseudobulbs are club-shaped up to 18 in (45 cm) long, with several leaves at the apex. The inflorescences are pendulous up to 10 in (25 cm) long with numerous creamy white fragrant flowers with bright golden yellow lips, about 2 in (5 cm), appearing in spring. It requires part-shaded intermediate conditions with plenty of water in summer and a dry rest in winter.
- Culture: Plant grows in cool to warm temperatures with medium amounts of light. Keep plant moist and fertilize during growth season. During winter reduce watering until new shoots appear. Grow in a well drain mix of sphagnum moss or medium fir bark.3
