Accession Data:

  • Accession # 200100522
  • Source: Deb Wiley - VA Tech
  • Provenance: Plant acquired at AERGC Annual Meeting 2001 - labelled as Catasetum pileatum, but ID questioned by both myself and Jonathan Ertelt (Vanderbilt). Parent plant in VA Tech greenhouse had beginnings of a pendulous inflorescence more indicative of Gongora or Stanhopea - will grow it out to flower and try to find out... Jonathan thinks perhaps Acineta sp.

Compared with color plates & description in Bectel, Cribb, Launert - this looks identical to A. chrysantha and as such that is the determination we will go with unless proven otherwise.
