- Habitat: eastern and northern woodlands, also into tropical rainforest areas
- Description: Growing to around 50 ft (15 m), this widely distributed tree has a conical shape and spreading branches. Its bark is deeply furrowed and the heart-shaped, deep green leaves are up to 10 in (25 cm) long. If there is a shortage of water, the tree may drop its leaves. Attractive yellow flowers are borne in clusters during late spring and summer.
