  • Family: Theaceae D. Don

  • Country of Origin: Marshall County, Georgia, USA
  • Habitat: acidic bogs at the heads of sand-hill branches along Alatamaha River

  • Description: Multi-stemmed deciduous shrub or small tree with large white flowers; discovered in Georgia, USA in the 1700's and brought into cultivation at that time, it has not been seen in the wild since 1803 and is apparently extinct in the wild.
