Solanopteris brunei (Wercklé) W.Wagner
- Common Name: Potato Fern
- Family: Polypodiaceae Bercht. & J. Presl.
- Country of Origin: western tropical South America
- Habitat: epiphytic fern
- Description: Rhizome tubers are complex rhizomatous sacs infested with Azteca and other ants. Ants supposedly mine sugar-laden tissues in the rhizome tubers to hollow them out for occupation, and bring in debris later exploited by roots entering sacs.
- Culture: Grow in hanging basket in fern mix. Allow rhizomes to run into new basket for propagation. Does not propagate well if rhizomes detached before established in new basket.
