  • Description: Close rosette of lanceolate, dark green rigid leave recurving. 30-40cm long with violet base and spiny margins, silvery scaly beneath; inflorescence 20cm high, protruding above foliage, nearly globular, with bracts and sepals red, petals red purple.
  • Culture: These are tank-type bromeliads, and attention should be given to flushing the tanks. Give them moderate to bright light, protect from wind damage and feed monthly with 20-20-20 fertilizer at half strength. They may be either potted or mounted.
