    This species has rosemary-like leaves, and makes a compact, rounded shrub 6 ft (1.8 m) high and about as wide with rather stiffly spreading branches. The narrow leaves, arranged in 4s, are gray-green on top, white and felt-like underneath. The small flowers, white with purple blotches in the throat, appear most of the year. Coast rosemary will tolerate salt-laden winds and can be grown as a hedge in seaside gardens.
