    Tender, evergreen, tendril-bearing vine; Roots producing globose tubers; leaves simple to 8 inches across, orbicular to reniform, coarsely crenate, rusty-tomentose beneath; fruit in axillary clusters, an edible, glossy reddish-purple berry, to 3/4 inch in diameter.
