  • Common Name: Lokta
  • Family: Thymelaeaceae Juss.

  • Country of Origin: Nepal to Sichuan
  • Habitat: Clearings in oak forests and shrubberies to 3100m

  • Description: Evergreen plant of 2m height with smooth gray bark. Leaves are green and alternate. The flowers are white and have pleasant smell.

  • Uses: Plants are used to make handmade papers & string. Also bark and roots are used in traditional medicine in Nepal to treat fevers.
Restrictions:

  • Poisonous Plant Parts - Not for Human Consumption
    Some species contain mezereinic acid anhydride throughout the plant and particularly in the berries. This has been demonstrated to be toxic to animals & humans.
