  • Description: Beach naupaka is a robust bushy evergreen shrub to 10 ft (3.1 m) tall and about as wide. Its habit is a dense, multibranched mound of light green foliage. Branches root where they touch the ground. The leaves are 3-6 in (7.6-15.2 cm) long and crowded at the tips of the twigs. Beach naupaka is sometimes called half-flower because the flowers have petals on just one side, like a hand fan. The five petals are white to pale violet. It blooms most of the year with a peak in summer. The mature fruits are fleshy white drupes about 0.5 in (1.3 cm) long.
