  • Description: Aquatic herb with stems to 6 feet long; floating leaves linear-oblong, 3/4 inch long, submersed leaves 1-2 inches across, with filiform segments; flowers axillary, 1/2 inch across, white with 2 yellow spots at base of each petal. Forms with purple flowers occur. Found in ponds and slow streams.

    Michigan to Florida and Texas.

    A fairly common aquaria and water garden 'oxygenator' plant
