    Globally Endangered Species

    Restricted to a narrow zone (20 km wide) between the humid rain forest of the southeast and the dry spiny forest of the soutwest of Madagascar. Important keystone species that provides food for animals during the dry season. Leaves are harvested by people for thatching, and fruits are eaten and sold. Overharvesting contributes to the endangerment of the species.
