  • Description: Rhizomatous perennial herb, to 1.5 feet; leaves to 10 inches across, deeply 3-5 lobed, often purplish-brown-spotted; flowers to 2 inches across, white or pinkish, stamens usually 6; fruit red, to 2 inches across, pulp edible.

    The drug podophyllum is obtained from the rhizomes of this species
